For Australian solar installers · The Independent Installer Program

You do the work. Someone else owns the customer.

You carry the accreditation, the ute, the warranty callbacks and the reputation. The retailer carries the customer — and the margin. We help installers build their own brand, their own lead flow and their own sales system, so the work comes to you instead of being handed down.

The arrangement nobody spells out

Fed by someone else means starved by someone else.

There's nothing wrong with subcontract work. It pays. The trouble starts when it's the only thing feeding you — because the moment the retailer's pipeline slows, yours stops.

Their price

You quote nothing

The retailer sets what the customer pays and what you receive. Your skill, your speed and your quality change none of it.

Their customer

You inherit the risk

Your name goes on the roof. Callbacks, complaints and warranty conversations find you. The relationship, the data and the repeat work stay with them.

Their tap

You wear the quiet weeks

One decision in an office you've never visited decides whether your calendar is full next month. Nothing about that is within your control.

The other side of it

What independence actually looks like.

Not a logo and a website that sits there. A business that generates its own enquiries and keeps its own margin.

  • A homeowner searches for solar in your town and finds you — not a retailer who then sends you out.
  • You quote direct, at your number, with your name on the proposal.
  • Every enquiry lands in a system that follows up whether you remember or not.
  • The customer belongs to you — reviews, referrals, service work, the battery upgrade in three years.
  • A quiet week is something you fix with marketing, rather than something you wait out.
The Independent Installer Program

The four things a solar business runs on. We build all four.

Whether you're starting with nothing or with a website that's never brought you a job, the work is the same: turn a tradesman into a business that feeds itself.

01 — Brand

A business homeowners trust

Name, logo, colours and a website built to convert quotes rather than to look pretty. Built fresh, or rebuilt from whatever exists now.

02 — Leads

Enquiries that arrive on their own

Google Business Profile set up and optimised, local SEO worked monthly, and access to the enquiry flow our own solar businesses generate.

03 — Systems

A pipeline that forgets nothing

CRM configured with your quote-to-install pipeline, follow-up sequences, quote templates and review capture already built and running.

04 — Sales

Closing at the kitchen table

One-to-one sessions on pricing, objections and closing. Your numbers reviewed — what to charge, what to keep, what a job takes to earn.

The part nobody else offers

We're not an agency that discovered solar.

We generate solar enquiries every week through businesses we run. More than we service ourselves. Those go out to installers in our network.

It's one of the reasons starting here beats starting alone — and it sits on top of the lead flow we build for you, rather than in place of it.

A marketing agency can build you a website and wait. We know what a solar lead costs, what converts, what a good quote looks like and what a homeowner asks at the kitchen table, because we do it ourselves.

Network enquiry flow varies week to week and by region. We treat it as an advantage of joining rather than a fixed entitlement, and we're upfront about that on the call.

Why us

We run solar businesses. That's the whole qualification.

We know what it costs to get a lead, what a retailer keeps, and what an installer takes home when someone else owns the customer.

Over a decade in solar — quoting, installing, marketing, hiring, and building the systems that let a solar business run without the owner standing in the middle of it.

Everything in this program is something we built for ourselves first. The CRM pipeline, the follow-up sequences, the quoting approach, the way a Google Business Profile earns enquiries in a regional town. None of it is theory.

Sovryn Consulting exists to take those systems and install them in other people's businesses. This program is that work, aimed squarely at the trade we know best.

Straight talk

Who this suits.

We take on a small number of installers at a time, because the sales work is one-to-one. Worth knowing where you sit before you apply.

A good fit

  • Accredited, doing quality work, already installing regularly
  • Currently fed by one or two retailers and uneasy about it
  • Starting from scratch — no brand, no website, no lead flow
  • Or started and stalled — an ABN, a logo, a website that brings in nothing
  • Ready to own the customer relationship, reviews and follow-up included
  • Willing to invest properly in getting the foundation right

A poor fit

  • Looking for a cheap website and nothing else
  • Wanting leads handed over with no business built underneath
  • Expecting the phone to ring in week one with zero effort at your end
  • Not yet accredited or not yet installing
  • Happy with the retailer arrangement exactly as it stands
Twelve weeks

From subcontractor to your own business.

Three phases, running in parallel. You keep working through all of it.

Weeks 1–6

Foundation

Brand and identity settled. Website built and live with lead capture wired in. Google Business Profile created and optimised. CRM configured with your quote-to-install pipeline mapped end to end.

Weeks 4–12

Lead engine

Local SEO foundation laid and worked monthly. Follow-up sequences, quote templates and review capture built into the CRM. Network enquiry access opens once your systems are ready to receive it.

Weeks 2–12

Sales capability

One-to-one sessions with Mike on pricing, objection handling and closing. Your numbers reviewed together. When the volume warrants it, help writing the role and choosing your first hire.

Ongoing

Kept running

CRM subscription and support, SEO and lead generation continuing monthly, and a quarterly review against your own numbers rather than a generic scorecard.

Investment

We talk numbers on the call.

This is a serious investment in a business rather than a website purchase. It's structured as a foundation build up front, then an ongoing monthly for the CRM, the lead generation and the coaching that keeps it moving.

What it comes to depends on where you're starting — someone with an existing site and an ABN calls for different work to someone starting from nothing. We work that out together on the call, and the call costs you nothing.

Questions

The things installers ask us.

Where does the work come from before my marketing kicks in?
Google Business Profile and direct quoting move first — both start producing inside the first few weeks. Installers in our network also get access to the enquiry flow our own solar businesses generate. That flow varies week to week and by region, so we treat it as an advantage of joining rather than a promise, and we're straight with you about it on the call.
I already have a website — is this for me?
If it brings you enquiries, keep it. If it sits there doing nothing, it's the same problem in a nicer wrapper. We rebuild what earns and keep what works. Plenty of the installers we suit are in exactly this spot — the appetite is already proven, the execution simply gets rebuilt.
Do I lose my existing brand?
Only when it's holding you back. Some brands get sharpened rather than replaced. We look at what you have, tell you honestly whether it's worth keeping, and go from there.
I'm an installer, not a salesman.
That's exactly what the one-to-one sessions cover. Pricing, handling the three objections that come up on every kitchen table, and closing without turning into someone you aren't. Most installers already have the trust — what's missing is the structure around the conversation.
What if the retailer cuts me off?
Timing and transition are part of the program. The sensible move is building your own flow while the subcontract work still pays the bills, then shifting the balance as your own enquiries grow. We plan that sequence with you rather than asking you to jump.
Why does a consultant know solar?
Because we run one. Over a decade in solar and off-grid across Australia — quoting, installing, marketing and hiring. Every system in this program was built for our own business first.
How long before I'm standing on my own?
Twelve weeks to launched with everything running. Six to twelve months to lead flow that genuinely carries you, because SEO and reputation compound rather than switch on. Anyone promising faster is selling you something.
What does it cost?
It depends on where you're starting. Someone with an existing site and an ABN calls for different work to someone starting from nothing. We talk numbers on the call once we understand your situation, and the call is free.
One conversation

Stop being fed. Start being found.

You already do the work. The Independent Installer Program builds everything around it — the brand, the website, the systems and the lead flow — so the customer is yours.
